Faqs
Frequently Asked Questions
Are your quilts machine washable?
Yes. All Jancy’s Fancies quilts are machine washable using cold water on a gentle cycle with mild detergent.
For Signature Heirloom Quilts, we recommend laying flat or hanging to air dry to help preserve scalloped edges, embroidery, and decorative finishes.
Can heirloom quilts be used every day?
Absolutely. Our heirloom quilts are designed to be both beautiful and functional for everyday nursery use. With proper care, they are made to be enjoyed now and treasured for years to come.
What makes a quilt “heirloom”?
Our Signature Heirloom Quilts feature refined finishing details such as scalloped edges, specialty quilting, and carefully selected premium cotton fabrics. These techniques are intended to create a keepsake-quality piece that may be passed down through generations.
What is the difference between Signature Heirloom and Classic quilts?
Signature Heirloom Quilts include elevated finishing details such as scalloped binding and embroidery and are designed as long-term nursery keepsakes.
Classic Quilts are handcrafted for everyday use and feature simpler finishes while still maintaining the quality and softness you expect from Jancy’s Fancies.
How do I care for my Memory Quilt?
Memory Quilts may be machine washed on a gentle cycle using cold water and mild detergent.
Because they are created from meaningful garments, we recommend laying flat or hanging to air dry to help preserve the integrity of the original fabrics.
Avoid bleach and high heat when washing or drying.
Can Memory Quilts be stored long-term?
Yes. For long-term storage:
• Ensure the quilt is clean and completely dry
• Fold loosely
• Wrap in a breathable cotton covering
• Store in a cool, dry location away from sunlight
Avoid plastic containers or vacuum sealing.
What clothing can be used for a Memory Quilt or Memory Bear?
We are able to work with a variety of garments including:
• Baby clothing
• T-shirts
• Button-downs
• Dresses
• Pajamas
• Uniforms
• Lightweight denim
• Flannel
• Cotton blends
If you have questions about specific items, feel free to reach out before sending them.
How many garments are needed for a Memory Quilt?
This depends on the size selected and the size of the garments provided. We will provide guidance once your order is placed to ensure enough usable fabric is available.
How do I send my clothing?
After your order is placed, you will receive detailed instructions for preparing and shipping your garments safely to our studio.
How long does it take to complete a Memory Quilt or Memory Bear?
Because each piece is handcrafted individually, current turnaround times typically range from:
• Memory Quilts: 4–6 weeks
• Memory Bears: 2–4 weeks
Please note that timelines may vary slightly depending on order volume.
Do you offer rush orders?
Rush orders may be available depending on our current production schedule. Please contact us prior to ordering if you have a specific deadline.
Will the clothing be cut?
Yes. In order to create your Memory Quilt or keepsake, garments must be cut. Any unused portions of fabric can be returned upon request.
Will my quilt look exactly like the garments?
Each memory piece is one of a kind. While we thoughtfully preserve recognizable elements when possible, the final arrangement may vary based on garment size, fabric type, and overall design balance.
Do you accept returns?
Due to the custom nature of Memory Quilts, Memory Bears, and made-to-order heirloom pieces, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges.
